Low Mount: Defense vs. the Trap & Roll (Upa)

The threat of getting rolled is one of the main reasons people avoid playing mount.

The trap & roll (a.k.a. bridge & roll or upa) is especially effective when an opponent knows how to create the correct angle from the bottom…

BUT you don’t have to fear this escape!

You just need to know:

  1. How to shift your weight properly to counter it
  2. The important differences in positioning when your posture is low vs. when it’s high

This defense can be particularly effective when you’re in a low mount position, or when you’re moving from and upright posture to a low mount.

I’ll show you how to maintain position even when it seems like your opponent has you dead to rights.

Make sure you grab someone and drill this until you can do both without thinking about it!
